Dog Country

Well its been an exhausting, expensive long drawn out journey but i finally received the decision on the proposed planning application for a dog park located in Kinlochmore just outside Kinlochleven, and its been refused. Notification came from Highland Council on the day before their holiday break.

I’ve definitely learned a lot during this initial process, which will serve us well for the next stage in taking Dog Country forward. Firstly, (and naively on my part) dont always trust those that present themselves as enlightened and inclusive. Being gaslit by those who seek to lie, fabricate, misrepresent and invent events, conversations and facts for their own agenda has been incredibly difficult for my mental health. I had never experienced this level of manipulation before and cant thank family, colleagues, the NHS mental health team, the Chamber of Commerce and the huge amount of support from those like me who believe not only that our canine companions deserve dedicated spaces to thrive but that they can offer one of the most effective ways for us to connect to each other, nature and achieve emotional wellness while supporting local business growth

So whats next for Dog Country?
For 2025 we will be looking to consolidate Lochaber Dog Services and Dog Country into a single entity. A unified presence should make it easier to keep track of all our activities, services, locations and events while staying relevant to our future vision.

The website will become the gateway to social media, contacts and forms. The shop tab will see new products and updated stock along with affiliate discounts and the blog will continue to bring updates on dog park developments.

Runarounds and Moocharounds will begin again in the new year and I’m also looking to start scent trailing events which there has been a great demand for so drop me a message if you want me to keep you posted on that!
